Work With Us
Jobs at Gotham Bagels
Six neighborhood shops in Chicago, Lake Geneva and Madison. We open early, we move fast, and every bagel is rolled by hand, kettle-boiled and baked fresh. If you like an early start, a busy counter and a good breakfast sandwich, come work with us. No bagel experience needed. We’ll teach you.
Roles we hire for
These are the jobs that keep our shops running. Here’s what each one looks like, day to day.
-
Barista
Pull espresso and make the coffee drinks, then help run the front of house: greeting guests, handing off orders and keeping the counter in shape.
What you’ll do
- Make espresso drinks and coffee to order, right the first time, even with a line at the door.
- Greet guests, take orders and hand them off with a smile and a name.
- Keep the coffee bar stocked and clean from open to close.
- Jump in on the counter whenever the shop needs another set of hands.
What a shift looks like
- We open early for the breakfast crowd, so your day starts early too.
- Mornings move fast. The rush is the job, and it’s the fun part.
- Our shops close by mid-afternoon, so your afternoon is yours.
- New to espresso? We’ll train you on the bar, the way we do it.
-
Cook
Work the line on our breakfast sandwiches and bagel sandwiches, and handle prep so the shop is ready before the morning rush.
What you’ll do
- Build breakfast sandwiches and bagel sandwiches to order, fast and the same way every time.
- Prep before the doors open so the line is set when the rush hits.
- Keep tickets moving, from a single egg sandwich to a catering order for the whole office.
- Run a clean station and follow food safety rules, every shift.
What a shift looks like
- You’ll be in before open, getting the line ready for the breakfast crowd.
- The morning rush is busy and loud, the way a good kitchen should be.
- Our shops close by mid-afternoon, so the day ends early.
- No line experience? We’ll train you on every station.
-
Front counter / cashier
Be the first face guests see: greet them, take orders at the counter and on the register, and pack catering orders so they go out right.
What you’ll do
- Greet every guest, take orders and run the register.
- Know the menu cold, so you can steer a first-timer to the right sandwich.
- Pack online and catering orders so every one goes out complete.
- Keep the counter clean and stocked through the rush.
What a shift looks like
- We open early, and the regulars show up right when the doors do.
- Mornings are a steady stream of walk-ins, pickups and catering orders.
- Our shops close by mid-afternoon, so you’re out early.
- First counter job? We’ll train you on the register and the menu.
Working at Gotham
-
Real craft
Our bagels are rolled by hand, boiled in a kettle and baked fresh every morning. No shortcuts, no forming machine. You’ll see how it’s done, and help do it.
-
Neighborhood hospitality
Our shops are neighborhood spots with regulars who know their order. Every guest gets greeted, fed well and sent off happy, whether it’s a walk-in or a catering order for 50.
-
Early starts, early finishes
We open early for the breakfast crowd, and our shops close by mid-afternoon. Ask about the schedule at the shops you pick.
-
We’ll train you
No bagel experience? That’s fine. We’ll teach you the counter, the line or the coffee bar, the way we do it.
-
Room to grow
Learn more stations, take on more, and tell your manager where you want to go. Local and family-owned since 2006, and still growing.
